The connections
that last.

Bar and bat mitzvah preparation, confidence for a new school, and learning that continues long after the ceremony.

The connections that last

A great day.
And something that stays.

Baseball, Torah & a speech that landed

“My son loves baseball, and Mickey used that connection to help him really get into his Torah portion. Together, they put together a d’var Torah that sounded like my son—funny, thoughtful, and full of personality. His speech was absolutely spectacular. Watching him up there, confident and proud of what he had to say, was amazing.”

He kept learning—all through high school

“We thought we were signing up for bar mitzvah preparation. What we got was a learning relationship that continued for years afterward, all through high school. My son loved exploring the connections between Torah and science and getting into the big philosophical questions with Mickey. He was genuinely invested in the conversations and didn’t want them to stop.”

From shy to ready for a new school

“Mickey worked with our son before he entered a Jewish day school, helping him get up to speed in Jewish studies and feel more comfortable with what was ahead. He was very shy at first, but Mickey took the time to get to know him. Over time, he opened up, started enjoying the learning, and felt much more confident about starting school.”

A teacher who became a friend

“Our son was amazing on his bar mitzvah day, and his speech was incredible. But what stayed with us most was the relationship he built with Mickey. He didn’t just see him as his teacher or mentor—he saw him as a friend, someone he wanted to stay in touch with for years to come.”
Rachel

She made the day her own

“Our daughter worked with Mickey for a little over a year to prepare for her bat mitzvah. Over that time, they built a relationship that made her want to put in the work and do well. By the time the day arrived, she took so much pride in what she had learned and what she was about to lead. She had an absolutely wonderful bat mitzvah, and seeing how proud she was of herself meant everything to us. We’re already looking forward to having Mickey tutor our other children.”

Finding his Jewish identity—on and off the field

“Our son is a dedicated travel baseball player with a very busy schedule. Over a little more than a year of bar mitzvah preparation, Mickey connected with him over baseball and built a wonderful relationship with him. Their conversations helped our son see how Judaism could be part of his life on the field, too, and begin to understand what his own Jewish identity meant to him as an athlete. Along the way, he came to embrace the importance of becoming a bar mitzvah and developed a love of Jewish learning. We’re so grateful that the experience gave him much more than preparation for one day.”
